Mortal Kombat, Portal 2, PSN, and Vehicles Aquisition!

So, I have both Portal 2 and the new Mortal Kombat game, and I love both of them.
Portal 2 is an extremely funny and fun-to-play romp. Hell, I've went through and beaten three times. The first time normally, the second time trying to get various missed trophies, and the third time listening to the developer commentary. It's well written, well voiced, and has one of the best pacing structures I've ever seen in a video game. Everyone should play this game. Everyone.
Mortal Kombat is also great and has raised my expectations for fighters to come. The story mode is awesome. Johnny Cage is awesome. The dialog is extremely hammy and awesome. I, in fact, have only one complaint. Online play is broken. And I don't mean in a 3.5 wizard kind of way, no, I mean it's unplayable because of the lag. This hasn't affected me too much since MK has become the game of choice during the 'figuring out exactly what sort of d&d shit we're doing' parts of game night. We've definitely fallen in love with Test Your Luck, setting it to the maximum number of reels and just having a blast. Everyone, or at least everyone who likes fighting games, should play this game.
In about a week and two days, give or take a couple of days for various reasons, I'll be getting a car! A real car! Isn't that amazing? There's a few drawbacks though. For one, I'll be missing out on a cell phone bill, meaning next month's is likely to be around $200-225. Owch. I won't be able to go to the GitP meet up this June either. And! My spending money for A-KON will be extremely limited. Like maybe $150-$200 limited. Or less. Depending. But it's ok, because I need a vehicle. I need to get driving and not relying on other people.
PSN was down, as you are probably aware. Apparently either Anonymous or a splinter group of Anon got into Sony servers and obtained personal information, including e-mail addresses, passwords, and MAYBE credit card information. I had to change my card out for a new one JUST IN CASE. Online gaming is now back up and the store is said to be restored soon. Sony is going to offer a free month of ps+ and two free games. Very much looking forward to that. I'm not extremely upset with Sony. They responded faster than most corporations, have taken responsibility, offering free identity theft protection programs, and gifts they didn't have to offer people for a free program going down.
There you go, a decently long post!

I Suppose It Couldn't Hurt

To update again, I mean.
So, Dead Space 2 is the current game I'm playing. It's a very well polished, fun, and, at times, very scary game. Especially if you're susceptible to things such as claustrophobia. And I am. And there's some jump scares. Not too many, but definitely not few, but at a pace where you don't just get tired of them. The opening to the game has been praised all over the place and I agree with it, it's one of the best video game openers I've ever seen. I'm only on chapter 10 right now, but I'll give a 'what I think so far': It's good. REALLY good. But it has it's faults, for one, combat isn't very scary to me. Now this might be because I'm on normal, and have fully upgraded my zealot force gun that I got from getting the special edition, but still. It's almost a cake walk. The only enemies that can hurt me on any kind of regular basis are the brutes, and only when in cramp corridors. Also needing to be pointed out is that unlike what they've said, Isaac's so called 'taking charge and giving orders' almost feels like he's still a grunt doing errands for other people. Albeit with a voice. And I admit, these are some very minor nitpicks to a game with SUPERB atmosphere. The decor, the audio, everything just adds up to a wonderful experience. Dead Space 2 gets a 7/7 from me. Why 7? I dunno, it's inbetween 5 and 10!

Stuff

I suppose I should make an update, I mean, this thing is here for such reasons. Or so I've been told. Anyways, a sort of a lot, but nothing world-shakingly important has been going on in my life.
First of all, it's a new year, and with that comes taxes and the prospect of school. Ah yes, that thing I've been meaning to do. Well, I am determined to start it this year, so I suppose that's my resolution if anything.
Speaking of taxes, my income tax return has come in, and some major items have already been purchased with it. My tickets to A-KON and Emily's plane tickets to here.
I've also gotten back into WoW and WOW have things changed since I last logged in. In a very, very good way. Or maybe I've changed. At any rate I'm no longer finding myself driven insane from boredom or tediousness with the game. Well, except when it comes to walking somewhere, that part is still pretty bad, but not as much since paladins get their mount at level 20 now. Cataclysm has done it's job in changing things up, that's for sure.
I also wanted to talk about how I've changed as both a player and a DM when it comes to dungeons and dragons. Mostly in response to one of my friends who has recently DMed and has pretty much been thrown off the DM chair.
First as a player: I remember fondly my frist time playing D&D, rolling stats, picking my starting equipment, learning what everything meant. My previous rpg experience had pretty much been limited to Final Fantasy X and Diablo 2, so I pretty much had no idea how to roleplay. I played Blace like I would've played a video game character at first. Well, for the most part. I'll concede I had 'roleplayed' in the old aim chatrooms. Do you remember those? I mean, I know they're still around, but I mean the super old ones when AOL dial-up what the best around. Yeah. I went into those and 'rped' a half-dragon or somesuch. I wish I still had the logs. I'd probably get a good laugh at them. You probably would too... but I'm on a tangent. For the most part it worked, except that early Blace didn't have much of a personality. I pretty much just did whatever. I don't say Blace did, because if there's no... er... character to a... character, then it's essentially the controller just living through the... er... character. Shut up. Anyways, slowly, over the course of side campaigns and various other things, I began to understand that my creations should have their own personalities, quirks, backstories. Blace ended up being a horrendous monster. A terrible blight on his world, and I felt it was rightly so, it followed his slow turn towards evil (read: getting a personality). But, I don't think he's really my favorite. I think I'm going to just officially announce it here: Thallis is my favorite character I have ever played. And it comes to this, I think. I roleplayed a backstory for him with the DM. And from this, Thallis had a... character... goal. And a defined personality. The campaign took some twists and turns and he went from a careless bastard to caring to both what happened to the world, the furthering of magic, and to the people both around him and abroad. When Thallis finally died post campaign and was lifted to god of arcane magic, I wasn't just satisfied with the conclusion, I was proud. Of myself, of the character's development, of Kevin for the great campaign. I've yet to really have a character match up to Thallis in this way. But now I try.
I'm not actually going to get into the DM aspect just yet, or what the friend did that was so wrong. My group knows and understands what it is, and I think I'll keep it a private matter. No need for the whole internet to know.
I promise I'll try to keep a more effective update schedule.

Crazy Dream is Crazy

I was visiting Emily in MD, and her father was outside of the garage working on something or somesuch, and he called me over to talk. I said hello, he greeted me back and then asked who the people around me were. I turned around and my entire family was standing there. And I don't mean just my immediate family, no, my uncles, aunts, grandmother and grandfather were all standing there. I told him who each of them was to me, which apparently was enough to know their names. Then we all went somewhere to eat, all of us riding in one vehicle. Emily had to sit on my lap. When we got there I was suddenly in my undershirt and boxers. There was a pair of shorts, but the legs had been sewn shut. Just as I was freaking out about what to do, I woke up.

Updated and Changed

I have updated and changed my site a bit. More updates on that coming soon! Or so I hope.
In other news, I freaking have food in my freaking fridge. HELLS YES.
Granted, I'm not eating gourmet dishes or anything, but I've got two kinds of turkey lunch meat (I know, I work at Subway and I'm eating sandwiches at home, but hey, they're cheap) some sharp cheddar, a 12-pack of Sunkist, and a gallon of milk. In the freezer there's three of those cheap-o Totino's pizzas. For $1.25 they aren't bad at all, a loaf of bread, and a pound of ground beef. I have a non-frozen loaf as well! And a box of mac&cheese, lots of ramen, some hamburger helper I plan on making Tuesday, some spicy nacho Doritos, and Cap'n Crunch. Well. The off brand anyways. Which is fine because it was $3 for a giant bag of the stuff. Oh, and a jar of goober. Strawberry. OMNOMNOM.
At work we have a new Jalapeño and Cheese bread. I'd try it but I've decided to go back to eating healthier. -Looks up at COMPLETELY UNHEALTHY food list.- Yeah, shut your face. At least I'll be eating healthy 4-5 days a week!

And that's all I have to say for now!

A Thing With a Site

I'm doing a thing with a site. Right here. It'll be replacing this site.
That's it for now. More rants about various other things later. Sleep now...

Counter-Intuitive

So, here's a post from my cellular device. I think I'll keep this post breef and just list my current favorite extremely UNhealthy sandwich.
Pepperoni, pepperjack cheese, turkey, bacon, jalaps, cheddar cheese, bell peppers, banana peppers, oil, salt&pepper, toasted, lettuce, and pickles. Oh, and on Italian herbs and cheese.
A little pricey, but tasty.
Hopefully a better post tomorrow.
